Home Visits

Doctor's bag

It's always safer for the doctor to examine you at the surgery; and remember that the doctor can see three or four patients in the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit. If, however, you are unable to come in, the doctor may visit you at home if it's medically appropriate.

We would ask patients who are housebound, or too ill to come to the surgery, to telephone between 08:00 - 10:00 in order to request a home visit.  Please provide our staff with as much information as possible so that the doctors can prioritise their calls.  Please remember that the visiting doctor may not be your usual doctor.

You can also be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby;  or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
