Teaching Practice

Medical Students

There is a large medical school at Aberdeen University and during their training the students are attached to a General Practice for eight weeks. We have two students a year and at the start of their stay the students will be sitting in the consulting room watching the doctor working.  Once they have some experience then we may ask you to speak to the student first, then the doctor will come in and see you.

Nursing Students

Students from Robert Gordon University are attached to community and hospital nursing teams as part of their training. They work mainly with the community team but may also sit in with the GP or practice nurse.

We will always ask if you mind having a student present when you see the doctor or nurse.  If you are not happy then the student will leave but do not hesitate to tell us because we understand that it can be difficult to speak to the Doctor or Nurse when someone else is there.
